Divya Singh (b. 1995) is a visual artist, who lives and works in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. She completed her BFA from College of Art, New Delhi and her MFA from Shiv Nadar University, Uttar Pradesh. Her practice is primarily rooted in painting and explores themes such as isolation, experience, memory and mortality – emanating largely from a poetic engagement with Time. Mediums such as photography, writing, cinema and painting are at the center of her language as a practitioner and have featured as important categories of both work and interest. These varied elements come together within the work and can be seen most distinctly in the artist books made by her, as well as in found imagery which accompanies the paintings and other media during exhibitions.

Singh had her first solo, Notes for Tomorrow in 2021 with Shrine Empire. Her selected exhibitions include Latitude 28 Presents Inscapes In Search of a place, curated by Premjish Achari, Bikaner House, New Delhi (2023); ‘Legal Alien’ curated by Meera Menezes, Delhi Contemporary Art Week, Bikaner House, New Delhi (2022); ‘Simulacrum’ curated by Arushi Vats, Anant Art Gallery, Bikaner House, New Delhi (2022); ‘Hum Sab Sahmat’ organized by Sahmat at Jawahar Bhavan, New Delhi (2022); ‘Yuva Sumbhava’ organized by The Raza Foundation and curated by Meera Menezes (North Zone), at Bikaner House, New Delhi (2022); Maximum Minimum, Artissima International Fair of Contemporary Art Turin, Italy (2021); ‘Limitrophy’ by Foreign Objekt+Posthuman Art Network (2021); Katyayni Gargi and Divya Singh at Shrine Empire, New Delhi supported by Saffron Art (2020); Memories Unlocked: Partition, Migration, Identities, Art Alive Gallery, New Delhi (2020); ‘The Constitution of India at 70 – Artists Respond’ organized by Sahmat, at Jawahar Bhavan, New Delhi (2020); ‘Donde Lo Oscuro Sangra Hacia La Luz’ / ‘Where the Dark Bleeds Towards the Light’ with Isla Colectivo, Bogotá, Colombia (2020); ‘Phantom Limb’ by The Raza Foundation, Shridharani Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi (2019).

She is a recipient of the Space 118 Fine Art Grant (2021) and was awarded the “Young Artist of the Year Award‟ (2022) as part of the first edition of HELLO! India Magazine‟s ‘India Art Awards’. Singh was a resident with Foreign Objekt’s (Online) Posthuman Lab (Artist Research Residents 2022). Two of her Posthuman Visual Art Projects as part of her artistic research are: Tachyon (2021) and Terminarch/Ender (2022-Ongoing) available for viewing on the Posthuman Art Network website and platforms.

She has been featured in GQ India’s-“10 Contemporary artists you should know about right now” by Saumya Vohra (2022).
