Youdhisthir Maharjan (b. 1984), works with found materials and reclaimed text, engaging in laboriously repetitive and autopoietic processes, to create a new language that transcends their humble origin and takes a new life of its own, independent of its prescribed meaning and form; inquiring the intersection of identity and anonymity, individual and collective, familiar and alien; exploring the materiality of text; and reasserting the thingness of language.

His works have grown from pre-composed and finished easel paintings with pre-assigned meanings/messages into process oriented works without prescribed meaning and composition, without any beginning or an end. The process is an end in itself, and not a means to some preconceived end.

Originally from Kathmandu, Nepal, began his journey in the arts with a B.A. in Creative Writing & Art History from the New England College, New Hampshire (USA). He went on to pursue his M.F.A. at the University of Idaho in 2012. He has since, exhibited extensively in India, Nepal, the United States and the UK. Some of his solo shows of note include An Unquiet Mind, at Tarq Gallery Mumbai in collaboration with Blueprint12 (2018); Nothing Repeated at Prichard Gallery, Idaho (2012); The Art of Not Making at the New England College Gallery, New Hampshire (2012) and Nite Light at Indigo Gallery, Nepal (2004).
